Mixed Media Fairy Tale Box
In the collection of the Yeshiva Unversity Museum, New York, NY

Sumeitra is based on a Jewish Iraqi Kurdistan tale, "the princess on the glass mountain". The young princess was turned into a bird by a witch and could only be heard by the birds. Although everyone believed her dead, the young prince Surash who understood the language of birds was able to break the witches spell. Although Sumeitra recovered her human form she still remained captive in the glass mountain. He rescued her by using the the gold threads of her gown to string an oud and play the music which would open the doors to her freedom.
